Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early break points in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
