Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
